Department of Practical Electrical Engineering – ORT Braude College

An immersive 3D representation of the Electrical Systems Laboratory, supporting practical electrical engineering education, safe preparation and the exploration of real-world electrical and renewable energy systems.

Innovative Teaching in Electrical Engineering

The Department of Practical Electrical Engineering at ORT Braude College is aligned with the requirements of Israel’s high-voltage sector, the Electricity Law and occupational safety standards. This academic year, the department introduced advanced imaging technologies as part of its teaching approach.

A 3D Virtual Electrical Systems Laboratory

A key element of this approach is the 3D virtual scan of the Electrical Systems Laboratory, created with Matterport technology. The digital environment transforms a real laboratory into an interactive space that students can explore both during and outside normal class hours.

Interactive 3D Laboratory

Explore the Electrical Systems Laboratory

Navigate through the laboratory virtually and explore an environment designed to replicate real-world industrial electrical settings.

Laboratory Environment

Educational Value

Supporting safety, preparation and real-world learning

The Digital Twin environment extends access to the laboratory and supports practical learning before students work with real electrical systems under instructor supervision.

Safe Preparation

Students can familiarise themselves with the laboratory environment before working with energized systems under instructor supervision.

Remote Exploration

The Matterport model allows students to revisit and explore the laboratory outside normal class hours, supporting independent preparation and review.

Final Project Support

Students can also use 3D scanning in final projects to document or design real installations, including electrical and lighting systems in public and commercial spaces.

Preparing Students for Electrical & Renewable Energy Careers

Through the integration of Matterport and immersive Digital Twin technology, the Department of Practical Electrical Engineering strengthens the connection between theory, laboratory practice and real professional environments. The approach supports the development of technical knowledge, safe working practices and practical experience relevant to the electrical, energy and renewable technology sectors.
