BIG ART in Greece

AR/VR Training & Student Projects in Greece

BIG ART activities in Greece focused on immersive technology training, Matterport-based Digital Twin creation and practical project-based learning for VET students.

Training VET Students in Immersive Technologies

In Greece, the BIG ART project activities focused on the training of VET students in the use of immersive technologies, particularly Matterport-based Digital Twin creation. Students participated in a structured pilot programme combining theoretical instruction with hands-on workshops.

Learning through Real Projects

Project-based learning activities enabled student teams to apply their new skills to real environments, creating virtual tours and 3D Digital Twin models linked to energy infrastructure, production facilities and technical sites.

Learning Process

From training to competition

The Greek implementation combined structured learning, practical experimentation and collaborative student projects.

01

Theoretical Training

Students were introduced to AR/VR, Matterport and 3D Digital Twin concepts and applications.

02

Hands-On Workshops

Practical activities helped learners become familiar with scanning, virtual tour creation and digital tools.

03

Project-Based Learning

Student teams developed Digital Twin projects based on real vocational and production environments.

04

National Competition

Teams presented their projects to an evaluation committee during the Greek National Bootcamp.

Student Project Areas

Real environments transformed into Digital Twins

Student teams worked with different types of real-world environments, demonstrating how immersive technologies can support vocational and technical learning.

Renewable Energy

Digital Twin projects included renewable-energy infrastructure such as wind turbine and photovoltaic installations.

Production Facilities

Students documented real food-production environments such as olive oil, pasta and walnut processing units.

Technical Sites

The project-based approach enabled learners to explore and digitally represent technical environments with direct relevance to vocational education.

National Bootcamp & Selection

The Greek pilot activities concluded with the National Bootcamp and Competition, where student teams presented their Digital Twin projects to an evaluation committee. The highest-ranked projects were selected to represent Greece at the BIG ART International Bootcamp in Athens.

Immersive Technologies in Greek VET

Through structured training, hands-on workshops and project-based learning, BIG ART enabled VET students in Greece to apply immersive technologies to real environments. The resulting Digital Twin projects connected technical knowledge with practical applications and strengthened students’ digital, collaborative and project-development competences.
